Information and Instructions to candidates (to be retained by the application)
A. General
As per Government of Uttar Pradesh order no 7156 Sec. 14/Five 158/92 dated 30 September 1993, the University of Lucknow shall be conducting the Competitive Entrance Examination for selecting candidates for admissio to postgraduate medical/dental courses in the allopathic medical college of Uttar Pradesh viz. Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Allahabad, Meerut, Jhansi and Gorakhpur and the Dental Faculty of K.G. Medicl College, Lucknow for the yea 1994.
(i) Candidates, who have passed MBBS/BDS from Medical College of Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Allahabad, Meerut, Jhansi or Gorakhpur are eligible to appear in the examintion.
(ii) The number of seats in each subject and college shall be determined as per Govt. of UPGO No. 4702-(1) Sec./14/Five-250/82/T.C. dated 30.6.93 and G.O. No. 2109 Sec. 14/Five-91 date 8.4.91
(iii) The eligible candidates who get selected through PGMEE - 94 wil be given admission on available seats in postgraduate course on merit-cum-preference basis and shall be appointed Juniour Residents.
(iv) A candidate who takes admission on the basis of PGMEE - 1994 will be debarred form appearing in subsequent P.G. Entrance Eamination of the State until he/she completes the course to which he/she has been admitted.
(v) The entrance examination for admission to all courses of all the above medical colleges for 1994 shall be held on 16 January 1994 at Lucknow,
B. Post Graduate Courses
(i) The M.D./M.S. course shall be of 3 years duration.
(ii) The Diploma course shall be of 2 years duration.
(iii) The M.D.S. course shall be of 1/2 years duration
C. Eligibility Criteria
The Competitive Entrance Examination shall be open to such candidates who -
(i) have passed the MBBS/BDS examination form any of the medical colleges.
(ii) have completed rotatory compulsory Internship or will complete the internship by 1st May, 1994.
D. Scope of Examination, Evaluation & Eligibility for admission.
(i) The Competitive Entrance Examination for M.D. M.S. diploma and MDS course shall consist of two written papers as follws :
Paper I - shall consist of 150 questions in pre and para -clinical subjects. It shalll be of two and a half hours durations and shall carry maximum of 1500 marks.
Paper II - shall consist of 150 questions in clinical subjects. It shall be of two and a half hours duration and shall carry maximum of 1500 marks.
(ii) All the questions in Paper I and Paper II will be objective type with multiple (1,2,3,4,) responses of which only one will be the most appropriate and, therefore, the correct response. Each answer with correct response shall be awarded ten marks. For each incorrect response three marks will be deducated form the total marks secured in the paper. Zero marks shall be given to no response. More than one response indicated against a question shall be deemed to be incorrect response.
(iii) The question will be of the MBBS/BDS level, Generally the number of questions in different subjects in the two papers shall be as follows :

(iv) In order to qualify for admission to a postgraduate medical/dental course, candidates shall have to secure a minimum f 50% marks in case of general category and a minimum of 40% marks in case of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes category.
(v) Candidates belonging to the above mentioned reserve category will be given admission as per orders of the State Government prevailingat the time of granting admission.
E. Application Form
(1) A candidates seeking admission to the competitive entrance examination is required to send his/her application on the prescribed form appended to theinformation bulletin. A candidate should not fill in more than one form for the PGMEE - 1994.
(2) Before filling up the application form the candidate must famillarise himself/herself with the inforamtion given in the bulletin.
(3) Every detail must be filled in by the dandidate in his/her own handwriting. All answers must be give in words and not be dashes or dots. No column should be left blank.
(4) Incomplete application forms shall be rejected.
(5) Furnishing of false inforamation or suppression of any factual information would disqualify the candidate from the competitive entrance examination/admission and cancellation of admission if already admitted.
(6) Completed application form has to be countersigned by the Principal of the medical college from where the candidate has passed the MBBS/BDS examination. Candidates employed else where must also submit No objection certificate from the employer for appearing at the entrance examination.
(7) The application must be accompanied with :
(a) Bank draft for Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of Registrar (PGMEE) Lucknow University, payable at Lucknow. It is should not be signed on the back by the candidate.
(d) Attested photocopy of the marks-sheet of the professional examination of the MCI/DCI/State Medical/Dental Council.
(d) Attested photocopy of compulsory rotating Intersnship certificateoor, if this has not been completed, proof to the effect that the candidate will be completing internship on or by 1st May.
(e) In case of candidates belonging to reserve category, attested photocopy of certificate to that effect from any oone of the competant authority listed below :
(i) District Magistrate/Addl. District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner/Collector Addl. Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Collector. Ist class Stipendiary magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Taluk Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Asst. Commissioner.
(ii) Chief Presidency Magistrate/Addl. Chief Presidency Magistrate/Predency Magistrate.
(iii) Revenue Officer (not below the rank of Tahsildar).
(iv) Sub divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his/her family normally, resides.
(v) Administrator/Secretoary to Administrator/Development Officer (laccadive and Minicoy Islands).
8. Application complete in all respects, should be sent to the Registrar (PGMEE) Lucknow University, Lucknow-226007 by registered post or by postal speed post only.
9. The last date for receipt of application forms by the Registrar (PGMEE) is 2 November, However, applications with late fee of Rs. 50/- may be accepted upto 9 November. No application will be received after 9 November.
F. Competitive Entrance Examination 1994
(i) The Competitive Entrance Examination of 1994 will be held on 16 January at Lucknow.
(ii) All eligible applicants will be sent admit card on their postal address by 16 November. The University shall not be responsible for non-receipt or delay of admit cards due to loss transit or any other ground. Ineligible candidates shall not be sent admist cards and no correspondance in this regard shall be entertained, not shall their fee be refunded.
(iii) Entry to the examination hall will be restricted to candidates in possession of admit cards isued by the Registrar (PGMEE), University of Lucknow.
(iv) Examination in paper I will commence at 10.00 A.M. and that in paper II at 2.00 p.m.
(v) Candidates are required to be present at the examination centre 30 minutes before the communcement of the examination.
(vi) No candidates will be admitted to the examination hall after 15 minutes of the commencement of the examination.
(vii) No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before the end of the first one hour.
(viii) Candidates shall sign the attedence sheet when directed to do so by the invigilator(s).
(ix) Candidates shall not be allowed to carry and textural material, printed or written matter or bits of paper or any other material except the admit card inside the examination hall.
(x) Candidates shall enter the roll number on the top the question booklet and the response sheet and no where else. Rough work, if any, may be done on the question booklet and not on the response sheet.
(xi) The respnse sheet should not be removed form the question booklet. After completion, the question booklet along with the response sheet will have be deposited with the invigilator of the examination hall.
(xii) Candidates shall observe strict silence during the examinatino. Any disturbance in the examination shall be deemed as misbehaviour and the defaulting candidates shall forefit the right to continue to sit in the examination hall. The decision of the Centre Superinterndent shal. be final and conclusive in this regard.
(xii) No candidate should leave his/her seat in the examination hall without the specific permission of the invigilator unit he/she finally submits the questin booklet and response sheet to the invigilator.
(xiv) The question booklet an response sheet are not to taken ouot of the examination hall unde any condition.
(v) Failure to observe these instructions shall disqualify the candiate from taking the present examinatio and also from subsequent examination.
G. Result and Selection
(i) Candidates who secure a minimum of 50% marks in case of General category and 40% marks in case of Reserve (SC/ST) category at the PGMEE shall be eligible for admission to a post graduate Medical/Dental course.
(ii) Inter se merit of candidates obtaining equal marks shall be determined in order of preference as under.
(a) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Paper II of the PGMEE.
(b) Candidates obtaining marks infinal professional examination MBBS/BDS.
(c) Candidates obtaining higher marks in IInd professinal examination of MBBS/III professional examination of BDS.
(d) Candidates obtaining higher marks in 1st professional examination of MBBS/II professinal examination of BDS
(e) According to age-older getting preference over younger.
(iii) A combined merit list of candidates found eligible for admission to the post graduate medical courses shall be declared/published by the Registrar (PGMEE) and submitted to the Director Medical Education and Training U.P.
(iv) The allotment of course/college to the eligivle candidates shall be made by the Director of Medical Education and Training U.P. on personall appearance of the candidate as per phis/her merit and choice of course. The date and place of consuelling shall be notified through press and notice borads of the medical Colleges. It wil be the responsibility of the eligible candidates to check for these dates and appear for allotment of course/colllege by counselling. At the time of counselling, the available seats in the different courses and colleges shall be displayed and the candidates, according to their merit, shall have the right to choose any one of the available seats at their rank. The same will be allotted to them. Candidates once allotted a seat shall not be allowed to change their option for any other seat.
(v) In case a candidate is unable to appepar in person on a notified date for personal appearance, he/she can send his/her representative with an authority letter for allotment. The allotment made to the authorised representatives shall be binding on the candidate.
(vi) Afte allotment of the seat, candidats who fail to join the course within fifteen days ahll forfeit their right for admission.
(vii) Those candidates who, amongst the seats available at their merit, do not wish to aopt for a seat in any course/college, shall be kept in waiting list. Vacant seats occuring thereafter shall be filled up form amongst the wait listed candidates according to their merit-cum-option.
(viii) Candidates can have their maks scrutinized on payment of Rs. 50/- within two weeks of the date of publication of the result of the Competitive entrance Examinatio by applying to the Registrar (PGMEE) Lucknow University, Lucknow.
(ix) The response sheet of the candidates shall be preserved only for three months from the date of publication of the merit list.
H. Admission
(i) The selection and speciality wise admission of candidates shall be made on the basis of merit.
(ii) A candidate who qualifies for admission to a postgraduate course shall deposit the prescribed fee on the date notified for the propose in the respective medical college. Those who fail to do so will loose their claim for admission in the course.
(iii) Admission shall be complete only the candidate produces the original copy of the following at the office of the Principal of the concerned Medical College.
(a) Fee receipt.
(b) High School Certificate
(c) MBBS/BDS passing out certificate
(d) Compulsory Rotating Internship certificate
(e) Marks sheet of 1st, IInd (& IIIrd professional also in case of BDS) and final professional examinations.
(f) Permanent registration certificate.
(g) Employer's relleving certificate, if employed.
(h) S.C./S.T. certificate, if applicable.
(iv) Candidates shall be required to complete the admission formalities and join the course assigned to them within the period specified for the purpose.
